How to clean a vape tank without ruining it

Separate washable tank parts from the coil and battery, use warm water where permitted, and let every piece dry before reassembly.

Clean a vape tank when changing strong flavors, when residue coats the glass, or when condensation and small leaks collect around the base. Keep the coil and all electrical parts out of the sink.

Empty and disassemble the tank

Turn the device off, remove the tank from the mod, and empty the remaining liquid responsibly. Take out the coil and separate the glass, mouthpiece, base, and top hardware only as far as the manual allows.

Work over a towel. Small O-rings are easy to lose, and cracked glass should be replaced rather than cleaned and reused.

Rinse washable parts

Warm water is normally sufficient for plain glass and metal tank pieces, but check the manual for painted finishes, wood, electronics, or special materials. Do not use harsh household cleaners or leave soap residue in the airflow path.

Use a soft cloth or swab for threads and corners. Avoid metal tools that can scratch sealing surfaces.

Do not wash the mod

The battery device and 510 connection should be wiped with a dry cloth or swab while powered off. If liquid entered the housing, do not open it. Stop using the device and contact support.

Treat stock coils as consumables

Rinsing a used cotton coil may remove loose liquid, but it does not reliably remove baked-on residue or repair burnt wick material. Never dry-burn a cotton-filled stock coil. Replace it when flavor remains burnt or muddy.

Dry everything completely

Shake off water and leave the parts on a clean towel until no moisture remains in threads, seals, or the center chimney. Reassemble the tank carefully, checking that O-rings sit flat and the coil is secure.

Refill and check for leaks

Fill only to the marked level, close the tank, and let a fresh coil prime before use. Watch the base during the first few minutes. A pinched seal or cross-threaded component is easier to fix before liquid reaches the mod.

For compact cartridges, use the separate pod cleaning guide.
