Why is my vape getting hot?

Some warmth near the coil is expected. Rapid heating at the battery, charging port, or body of the device is a reason to stop.

The tank or pod area normally becomes warm because the coil is a heater. The concern is heat that rises quickly, spreads through the battery section, appears while charging, or continues when the device is idle.

Stop if the battery area is hot

Turn the device off, disconnect it from charging, and place it away from anything combustible. Do not keep it in a pocket. A battery that swells, leaks, smells unusual, changes color, makes noise, or remains hot should not be used again.

If it smokes or catches fire, move away and call emergency services. Do not handle a failing lithium-ion battery.

Repeated puffs heat the coil

Several long pulls in quick succession keep adding heat before the coil can cool. Pause between puffs. If normal use still makes the mouthpiece uncomfortably hot, check the coil power and airflow.

Wattage may be too high

Use the range printed on the exact coil. Lower the setting if you are near its upper limit, particularly with long puffs or restricted airflow. A dry or burnt taste is another warning that the wick cannot keep up.

Airflow may be blocked

Make sure your hand, condensation, or debris is not blocking the inlet. Clean accessible parts with the device off. Do not push tools into an automatic draw sensor.

Charging heat needs attention

Use only the charging equipment specified by the manufacturer. Charge on a clean, hard surface where you can observe the device. Stop if the port is damaged, the connection is loose, or heat becomes excessive.

Accidental activation is not normal

A stuck fire button or an auto-draw device that activates without a puff is unsafe. Remove the pod if the manual permits, switch the device off, and discontinue use. Do not attempt to open a sealed battery housing.
